Ahead of Small Business Saturday, we caught up with independent retailer, Donna Law, owner of Cherry Girl’s Wardrobe, within our managed town, Stockport.
Inspired by a love of Rockabilly fashion, music and victory rolls, the Stockport native has created her vision in the trendy Underbank area of the town.
“I started with three mannequins and a clothing rail!”, initially trading as a concession within a small business emporium, Donna took full premises last year and hasn’t looked back since; “I can chose the hours I work, I can be a mummy and I can indulge in my passion for everything 50’s.”
This passion is at the heart of her customer approach in providing not just a product, but a shopper experience; “I can share the love of the styling, the fit and the way a beautiful dress can lift your spirits and put a smile on your face.”
Donna’s future vision is to run events within the store and further afield, bringing together the music, fashion and buzz of the Rockabilly era to transport visitors right back to the dance halls.
As for Stockport, Donna continues to see the town excel; “There are lots of changes going on in Stockport, all for the good, and I love to be in the heart of the excitement here in the old town!”
Small Business Saturday is a grassroots campaign which encourages consumers to ‘shop local’ and support small businesses within their communities.
